Hello?I am new to the forum and new to the BMW experience. I recently purchased a 2005 545i with Sport Package. The car is amazing and I am sold on BMW.
I am looking get snow tires, thinking of getting the following:
Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport (Performance Winter)
Size:225/50-17
HR Speed Rated
Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Would you recommend them?
Also, I live in Northern VA; snow here is not too bad compared to what I am used on in Chicago but want to make sure I avoid any issues.
Thanks!

If you want to stick with Pirelli, get the new sottozero's. I had the old 240 snowsports and they were crap.
Try looking at Michelin Pilot Alpin 2 or Continental TS810S as further alternatives.

You can get Continental TS790v in your size, V rated performance winter.
Highly thought of in Europe with similar winter weather to yours.

I'd go to Tirerack.com. Pirelli Winter 210 may be acceptable but they rank last out of 7 tires surveyed. I think you have other options that are better; Michelin Alpin, Dunlop Wintersports, Blizzaks.

If I were back in Northern VA/Reston I would get the set up I did this past week. I bought the Continental WinterConti 810 S. They are a little more suited to the mostly dry and sometimes wet pavement on 267 and 495 than the Blizzaks or more aggressive treaded tires.

Curious how the tire selection turned out last year. Mind giving us a quick review?

As pointed out, there are much better snow tires out there. I personally like the Dunlop Wintersports.

225/45R17 Dunlop Winter Sport M3 DSST (Runflat) on ASA J3H wheels for S.O.'s 330i
225/50R17 Dunlop Winter Sport D3 (Non-Runflat) on ASA J3H wheels for my 550i
All with BMW centercaps @ $5.00 per pc.
All in all a little over $2,500 with shipping. But we're all set for the cold season now.

I looked at the reviews on tirerack.com and the Dunlop Wintersports got high marks across the board.
