I've only had to drive in snow a few times and on each occasion had no problems what so ever. (To be honest though, I was seriously worried about my 275's!!) Its been a pretty mild winter and no skiing trip this year, so haven't really had to test them in tough snow conditions.
Even though they are 275 wide, the grip is still no comparison to my 275 Michalin summer tyres -- looking forward to having them fitted again...

The camera used was a simple Canon IXUS70, which has 7.1 mega pixels. More than enough picture quality for my photographic "skills"!

I am confused about something. Are you running all season tires for winter?? I cannot find 19" winter tires anywhere and would love to get them.

When ordering the car, I asked my dealer to fit the OEM 19" type 128 rims with Continental non-RFT winter tyres. I was expecting to have 245s all round, because I thought this was the only size available -- this is primarily based upon details I read about rsyed's set-up on his E61. About 2 weeks after taking delivery of the car, I actually noticed that they had fitted Continental Winter Sport non-RFT tyres with 245/35/19 at the front and 275/30/19 at the rear, max speed rating 240kmh. This came as a total surprise to me and I was a little nervous at first, but they have performed just fine -- no better or worse than the 245/35/18 set-up I had on my previous ride.
According to my dealer, he regards this as the standard approach for the E60 when ordering a 19" OEM winter set-up. They keep to the standard E60 (not M5) 19" sizes, which is 275 at the rear. Naturally you could ask them to fit 245s upon special request, i.e. 4 front wheels like many people do when putting 19" OEM rims on their E61s.

on the oem 128 wheels, he is running winter tires with 245 in the front and 275 in the rear. I have opted for a winter setup based on the m166 wheels with 245 tires at the front and rear - works great. The tires are available, slightly more expensive than the summer tires...

Thats interesting. I have been quite unsuccessful in finding dedicated winter tires with a 275 width for the rears. I guess I have to look harder?? Are you saying that a 245 would fit on the rear rim just fine even though it's wider than the front and calls for a 275??

oh no - i am saying that I have taken 4 front wheels and mounted 4 245 tires on them....
