About the tar spots - use WD40 if it's available where you live. It's the best, and it melts the tar or bugs or whatever and it will not damage the finish. Kerosene is another good cleaner - which is what WD40 is - I think. It's pretty mild.

I think the glare on the Tom Tom screen in the photo is from the flash. It's not a problem in practice. That said, we don't have much sun in the UK!
On the question of the interior, I just have the standard sport trim of 1/2 leather, black headlining and aluminum bits.

Here's what it looks like on the ol' E34. I normally mount it higher. It fits great on the truck and it's out of the way - fits even with the bottom edge of the mirror.
