My Ride: (2007) E60 - 520d Msport - Carbon Black,Black Dakota Leather, Carbon Fibre Trim, Business Nav, Bluetooth with telematics, Heated Seats, Parking Sensors Fr/Rr
Default

Hi All,

I am undecided about which BMW style wheels to fit to my Carbon Black E60.

2 Choices:

a)Genuine 19" 166 M Alloys with the correct tyre fitments.
b) Replica 20" 166 Alloys with correct tyres and offset.

So - if anyone has any pictures of an Msport E60 with either of the above (Carbon Black would be a bonus) - I would be very grateful.

Regards,

Matt

oem quality for sure. some people would think they are 20s anyway because there is no lip.

True......

I would prefer the OEM 19"s - but the 20"s may fill those massive arches nicely and clinch the deal.

Prices I have been quoted are pretty much the same.

Tried the search facility and scoured the photos - not much joy

Pretty please?!

Matt,

I think geneatals is right about the debate thing, but I can honestly say ive been looking at this myself and I havent found any 166's (M5 replica's) that look even close to the real deal. I wouldnt waste your time getting the replicas if they dont like like OEM. If you do find some let me know becuase I do like the look of the 166. The 166 reps Ive seen not only have a line around the lip of the wheel, but also OEM M5 wheels are flush from the side view and curve in towards the center of the hub nicely. While the reps bow out from the side view and the curve at the center of the hub is not as great. To me the whole design of the side view is what really sets the 166 wheel off. If you dont have that then whats the point??!?! However going the OEM route is expensive if you ask me. I would say find some great aftermarket wheels with style you like instead and save your money on an M-tech kit

If you decide to go replicas, then try the 167's, 172's or 128's at least they look almost like the real deal. I may go with the Miro 346 (167 reps) myself if I dont get the Monet New Age

in any case good luck and let us know what you get...post some pics!!!!!

Thanks IceyTys,

I have found some decent replica's in the UK (www.mstyle.co.uk) - but I am leaning more towards the OEM alloys - as my car still has 2.5yrs Warranty which I want to keep hassle free. Also I cover big mileage and need durability and quality along with safety - I would feel more comfortable knowing that the wheels are genuine.

My car is an MSport model - so no need to save my money! Though I do fancy adding the AC front splitters to add aggression.

So - Any Pics?

Matt

Thanks for that,

Made up my mind then.

Just have to wait for my car to come back from the Bodyshop........

After a minor prang & ?5K/ $10K of repairs to the front........

Still - whilst it is in the shop - I am having some extra works completed - Pictures to follow.
