Hello all I?m scheduled to pick up my car today @ 1pm!!!!!!!!

When do you guys recommend I wax my car? Should I wait a bit or should I wax it this weekend. If so I'll be using Zymol (the good stuff, not the cheap version), I have some left over from my old 325i.

A professional detailer friend of mine said the paoint needs 6 weeks to 'cure' after it exits the paint shops. Probably a good 5 weeks from the build-complete date should be good.

There's one question I asked a while ago that I never say answered.

Does the 6 week clock start ticking from the time the paint is applied or from the time the cosmoline is taken off at the VPC?

Can the paint "breathe" through the cosmoline?

Very good question. I wonder how soon, after the auto leaves the paint shop, the cosmoline is applied. Waiting a month after delivery before the first wax should do it. It's hard for me to leave the paint unprotected that long. I just and avoid birds, at all costs! No parking under trees or power lines. Avoiding any kind of tree sap and bird poop before the first wax would be critical.

Sure. Got mine hand-washed this past Friday, 2 week anniversary. It's just the first wax that should wait a bit. I don't think I have any marks yet, but did hear the telltale high-pitched 'click' of a stone chip on the highway...a tiny one. I checked briefly (no, I didn't pull over and stop immediately!!) and didn't see anything.
