New rotors every brake change?? WTF??
535i is 8 quarts I asked the BMW tech and also the guy at the oil change place. BMW supposedly changes your rotors every time they replace your pads.

There's a minimum thickness allowed for the rotors. When the pads are about done, there's a good chance that the rotors have reached their minimum thickness allowed by BMW spec or pretty darn close to it. Ever wonder why BMWs stop on a dime? Well, that's because the material on the rotors and pads are much softer than conventional cars. All that brake dust all over the rims is a good indication of this.

^ Eh... I never thought my 5's brakes were THAT good. I had upgraded slotted rotors and pads on my Acura TL and braking response was much better.

I guess I have much to learn in the BMW world!

BTW, where'd BL 5 go?? You can't drop a bomb like "free extended maintenance" and just leave!

^ OH... thanks I did see that but it didn't click on the time. Probably too late to change my "special offer" now.

Edit: just called... too late. Dammit, a costly oversight!

I was informed the MPU (Maintenance Plan Upgrade)was only available on CPO cars.

Here's the fine print. Looks like it expired on 6/30/2011, but probably was extended.

Special offers are valid only for qualified customers who finance a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) BMW through BMW Financial Services (BMW FS) at a participating BMW center. Not all BMW centers participate. To qualify, you must enter into a retail installment sale contract between June 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011. *The up to $1,200.00 payment credit is available on eligible 2008 model year 3, 5, 6, and 7 Series, (M models excluded) using standard BMW FS rates. On 2008 MY 3, 5, 6, and 7 series, BMW FS will reimburse up to $400.00 per month of the first three payments due, customer will be billed for payment in excess of $400.00 credit each month, and if payment is below $400.00 credit, there is no additional credit beyond the three months or $1,200.00, whichever is greater. Program not available to customers refinancing or leasing their current vehicle that is financed or leased through BMW FS. Financing starting at 0.9% APR is available on Certified Pre-Owned 2008 model year 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, X3, X5 and Z4 (M models excluded). The no cost maintenance offer is valid for up to 6 years or 100,000 miles from the original in-service date, whichever comes first on eligible 2008 MY 5, 6, and 7 CPO models (M models excluded) using standard BMW FS rates. The three offers listed here cannot be combined in any way. Only certain contract lengths are eligible. These offers are subject to credit approval. See your participating BMW center for details about minimum and maximum lease and financing terms, and vehicle availability. Protection Plan, backed by BMW, provides coverage for 2 years or 50,000 miles (whichever comes first) from the date of the expiration of the 4-year/50,000-mile BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty. **To qualify for the one day M Driving School offer at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, SC customer must enter into a retail sale contract between June 1, 2011 and June 30, 2011. Offer valid on 2007 and 2008 CPO M models using standard BMW FS rates, and cannot be combined with any other BMW FS Program. Approved customers must hold a valid driver?s license, and will receive a voucher for one day M Driving School. The voucher is valid for one year from the retail process date of their purchase, and cannot be exchanged for cash value. The one day M driving School voucher is non-transferable, only the customer associated with the VIN is eligible. The customer is responsible for all transport to and from the BMW Performance Center, and for any and all transportation, accommodation, and meals associated with the program. I see. I think I'm just going to get some aftermarket brake setup instead of paying for the BMW stuff everytime. We shall see!
