If I had other vehicles to serve me when it is in the shop, I would buy this in an instant. It's just gorgeous.

Maserati is beautiful, saw it on the road last weekend when driving from Allentown to NJ. It looks amazing but I dont think it can even come close the the M5 in performance (+ the V10 growl!)
For me, the Maserati engine note (particularly on the S model) is actually much better than even the M5. This thing sounds like a Ferrari - as it should, as the Maserati V8 engine was designed and built in Maranello...

They're not really competitors (the M6 would certainly be), but if you're looking for a GT the Maserati has to be on your list. Beautiful car, comparatively few on the road, an incredible exhaust note, a car with true soul and passion and, more to the point, you're driving a car that is essentially Ferrari-engined.

What's not to like?
+1. That would make a great second car.

+1. You can pick up an 06' Maserati Quattroporte for about $40K with less than 40K miles on it. I really like the M5, but IMO you'll get more stares with the Mas.

+2, I'd pick this over a M5 anyday! There is just too many M5's rolling around here where I live so its not a big deal when you see one.. I see M5's at least once a day here.
Plus I like the rareness of the Maserati over the BMW.

they're rare because they're always in the shop. The Maseratis are extremely unreliable, dealer service is atrocious, dealer network is very very small and once it's out of warranty you might as well light it on fire because the repairs are crazy. A friend of mine (woman) is on her 2nd one. She puts max 6k on them a year and both have constantly been in the shop for various reasons. I eat at her restaurant weekly and she has a different loaner every 3 weeks. She insists on owning it because it is a beautiful machine, it's fun to drive and she loves that it's Italian. The unreliability doesn't bother her because she has other cars. As a primary car I would never own it. As a toy I think it's great but you have Ferrari maintenance without Ferrari status. Like a previous poster said I would get a P-car first
