My e815 synced easily to my car. My contacts are all ther, but when I go to use voice commands I say Dial Name and the car says phonebook empty. So is the phonebook transferred? I can dial the names through the idrive without a problem.

Tell the car "A to Z list." It should take you to your phonebook--which may be empty. If the voice-command dodo doesn't want to take you there, for any reason, then check your A to Z list manually. If empty, then you may have to go as far as getting a new phone and changing carriers. We did. In other words, all BT phone/carrier combinations will not yield a perfectly working BT/BMW phone system. Everything worked initially, with our old phones/carrier, except that our phonebooks would not load. Who is your carrier?

I have the E815 too. I had to sync the car voice phone book with my E815. I had to save each entriy to the car phone book by using the "save name" <name> <save cmd> I know it is a pain..but I am done

Yah yah yah...i know....the list that show in A..z is different than the list from "read phonebook". I still have few more to go

Should we move this to BT group?

You can say "Dial Mrs Smith, for example, if, and only if, her name is stored exactly as "Mrs Smith" in your BMW phonebook. But, also, you can dial using your iDrive by scrolling and clicking once you get to the A to Z list. Try dialing manually first and see what happens. Verizon should have some phones that will make your BT work properly if you phone ends up not being up to the task.

I have not deal with contacts. But, when your phone syncs with your car, then its phonebook should be loaded into your BMW's phonebook--the A to Z list.
