OMG I've just filled car (535M Sport) full of petrol. Now it's stuck on drive.
Has anyone else been this stupid. Any thoughts or ideas?
I've always heard that authorised dealers really stitch you up in this instanceofficial BMW? Does anyone recommend a decent non authorised BMW specialist in South London?
And on Easter Sunday just to compund problems.

Get it drained fully and then refill with diesel. Then just run the car as normal and if things start to go wrong take it to the dealers to fix under warranty. Maybe it will work?

So drain it as good as you can and fill it up with diesel. Should be OK.

My Ride: 535d M sport. lots of nice toys but I apreciate the HUD and audio upgrade the most.
VX220 Turbo. All options ticked.
Take out the fuel pump fuses (so you dont prime the system when you turn the key to move the wheel). Get it trailered to a BMW dealer and take it on the chin.. You wont do it again.
The High presure fuel pump is lubricated by the diesel .. If you run petrol through it bye bye pump injectors etc etc etc.. (at some point in the future)
If you have not primed the system BMW will drain clean and re fill with diesel . Cost: less than ?300
If you have primed the system then it may get a bit more expensive.

P.S. in the old days there were no high pressure fuel pumps ( not being clever )

Happens every day (average 3 times a day in the towing company I work for).
If the engine was not started, drain the system and refill, and you're done.
Once the engine was started the fuel pump might need to get replaced.
If the car was driven and died, you need a new fuel pump.
Draining the tank is very difficult and should only be done by an authorized dealer.
The most non-authorized dealers really screw up when trying to do this.

5th gear did a test on that and even ran the diesel car around a track a few times with petro and then put diesel back into the car and it was all good... *shrugs*

My Ride: 04' 530i Sport/premium/cold wx/PDC/xenon.
I had this happen oce with a former car, a Volvo TD.
I recognized what had happened before I tried to start the car. We rolled the car into the bay and drained the tank, then refilled the with diesel, no problems.
Hope you caught the mistake in time.

they should do what HK dose which is get the petro staffs to fill it up and then want get it wrong and dont have to get out the car in 40c in the summer
