The problem is : when I push hard, if the road becomes to be a little bit twisty, the brakes don't follow !
Why doesn't BMW fit bigger brakes ? They worked a lot to keep the total weight of each E60 model reasonnable, but they undersized the brake system.
The best engines on earth (M3,M5 & 3.OD) are worth good brakes.

Just curious what you E60 owners think of driving your car "hard".
By that I mean pushing it......high rpm....aggressive acceleration.....hard braking....fast turns.

What do you guys think?
I can speak with certainty for at least two of us.

My kind of thread! I have no worries whatever about pushing it to the limit and lately I have been.

A week ago there were about 22 of us in our E60s driving hard up the winding mountain roads of SoCal......and I don't think any of us had a second thought about driving our cars hard......hell....I'm still grinning....

This is my first BMW and its made me a better driver. One word, confidence. As good power and great steering adds up to more driving flexibility and you can't help but push the car. That said, I truly enjoy everything about the E60 but I'm mindful not to needlessly abuse it.

Watched F1 today and was inspired to go for a couple of fast drives in some nice twisties. Boy, its nice to have a BMW!

CVT Benhogan Another gushing post.

Just got in from some 6,800 rpm spins.. Turned off the training wheels and let it slide..

Drive it like you're mad at it!

to be honest..that is the main reason i bought a BMW, and you can be sure that im gonna push it to its limits a couple of times a week... but these days im trying to slow down because my brakes are "evaporating" fast, so im easing of that brake pedal these days and using engine braking a bit more.. i dont worry about tires at all, infact i wish the would finish faster, i have RFT and as soon as they finish in getting nonRFT..
Thats what these cars are built for, Fast driving..

could not agree more with all of the statements like drive it like you stole it and what not.... my car is a MY04 with 81,XXX Km and climbing, out of warrenty after having the car a year and a half now, love every second of driving the car, whenever the car needs something it's in the shop doing it right away, as long as you treat your baby with TLC she will give it back to you 140% only real thing that is going to need to be replaced soon is the SMG clutch, as the dramatic performance gain that the car got from the simple K&N filter change has somewhat hastened the pace at which the clutch is wearing, i can start to feel it sliping now, could maybe also be the LC's and the track days the car has seen but that is all part of the fun of having an E60 i guess, also a good excuse to upgrade the flywheel and clutch to something more FUN

Hey CVTBenhogan...

Where do you go to find twisties around Chicago? I grew up near Chicago (in the Fox River valley area) and I just wondered...

Cheers, Jon.
