Just as the topic says. I have a 550i auto without the sports trans and so i wanted to ask is there any difference in the performance like 0-60 times etc. between them.
+ can any1 tell me how to do a faster 0-62mph time. I cant go under 6.1 (with 3 people in the car though and full tank). and does sprint booster really help?

I've been told by 5er (with SAT) owners and BMW Korea that the SAT doesn't make a difference in acceleration times. However, logic would state that slightly faster upshifts should result in slightly faster times... but it seems with the SAT, it doesn't. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the transmission itself doesn't change. Only some of the electronic components that control the transmission.
FYI, it definitely has a very tight torque converter. It can be jerky in the 2-1 downshift in sport mode. It also seems to lock up as soon as its off the line and provides very fast direct shifts in sport mode. There is NO RPM fluctuation on the road, unlike most automatics.
Re brake torqueing to launch the car: Done moderately on rare occassions shouldn't damage the car, only the tires. Although, repeated high RPM launches might. You'll never know until something goes SNAP!!! The weak point on E39 M5 S3's was the rear subframe mount. I think Dinan now re-inforces them to handle the 600hp.

What's a 'depression delay'?
Is that the mental state of being one is in when their e60 is not accelerating in an all-out manner?
(i know to what you are referring...)
