My cars came equipped with them. However, BMW specified "flashlights" rather than "torches".

Just make sure that when you trade-in your car that you grab the torch/flashlight to use it on your next BMW... they all seem be the same for 3 series, 5 series etc.

Are there any e60 "accessories" or "fittings" that are less useful than the torch that could be ditched instead?

Opinions?

- Very few people smoke in their car so the cigarette lighter/ashtray could be non-default.
- cupholders in some markets could be a dealer installable option. I don't like using them at all.

ummmmm, not so sure a torch/flashlight is a really big deal? I just purchased my CPO 545 and no torch. Was slightly miffed, but quickly forgot about the lack of illumination when I stepped on the skinny pedal! If one is truly in the dark and in need of an illumination device to keep in the glovey, why not spend a bit and purchase a SureFire led that will rival the xenons?

On the topic of common language, I am half US, half UK with a UK wife. Communication can get challenging on occasion.......I also have had the distinct pleasure of driving in the UK on a regular basis though I now live in the US. Boy do I miss tooling down the M40 in my wifes old 330 club sport, blistering past the coppers sipping tea! No such experience here in the good ol' US of A without the risk of being pulled by a Trooper with four wheel envy. Ah well.

Mine didn't have one - or a first aid kit. To add insult to injury, when I complained to the stealer he supplied the first aid kit, but refused the torch on the grounds that it wasn't standard equipment any more. I run my own business and I wouldn't have any problem "chucking in free of charge" an item like this. It's the little things people remember (good and bad). I am always staggered at the cheapskate attitude the motor trade adopt.

Anyway, a little Maglite torch is much more useful - who needs a Beemer Torch!
