My Ride: BMW E60 530i, Production Date May 2005
Default

Hi,

My E60 530i was built in May 2005 for the Australian market and it doesn't come with a SOCKET or TORCH.

I gotta buy both at a cost of A$75, what a rip off.

Cheerz :'(

We Yanks get the torch included -- at least it was on my car.

I think it's one of those country specific things that they nickel and dime you on...
Like not switching the direction of the wipers on RHD cars.

On our cars in HK, we have the socket but no torch.

On the E46 I've owned in Canada it came with the flashlight/torch, I thought is a step back when I got the E60 that this car is more expensive yet it doesn't come with the torch.

But I am not too bother by it as I have used the torch like 2-3 times during my ownership of the E46.

Wow, thanks for the clarification on torch!! I was tearing apart my boot looking for the stick... LOL
Im trying to make it easy for you guys

I tried to buy a train ticket in the USA once. I asked for what it would be called in the UK - "A return ticket to xxxxxx"

what I got was a book of 10 tickets for the chicago train system. I should have asked for a 'round trip' ticket.

Sometimes terminology can screw people up, so I was just being clear in my definitions

cheers

I know what you are saying, I have travelled extensively throughout the United States (just back from New York? great city) and I love the fact that we are two countries divided by a common language, you end up in some very interesting situations!!

My E60 530i was built in May 2005 for the Australian market and it doesn't come with a SOCKET or TORCH.
The socket is there!

It seems the most people over here in the EU didn't used it, so they let it out. But in the US such little goodies can't be taken away, or the customers start complaining, even though they don't use it.

So they can't take it out of the US cars.

For all others, there is a socket... Hidden... You just need to buy the torch, open the socket and plug it in.
