I just sent a link to this thread to BMWNA ( BMW NA Customer Relations ) via PM who recently responded to another members post on this forum. I asked if this problem is covered under warranty. I'll post any response I receive.

I have a 2006 530i with the same peeling problem on window control panel... The warranty won't cover it, per my dealer, and they say to change this panel would require replacing the whole control board, which I think is absurd...
Can anyone provide any info where I could get this part? Checked Ebay - nothing there, except for the 2004 model which has 2 mirror switches at the top of the panel, and mine only has one.. Any info is appreciated!

your dealer should fix it, they replaced mine. Tell your CA that you will make a claim with BMWNA...and point them to this thread. Its a well known problem

Hey guys,
This happened on my E46 cigarette tray cover and now on my E60 steering and window control panel.
I just went and got all the plastic panels with this possible to peel off paint resprayed by a company down here called "chips away" that sprays on a sort of like rubbery textured paint which feels exactly like stock.
I got him to remove the BMW paint and spray that on all my panels in the car including the gear level surround.
The only one i had problem doing because they couldnt take it out to spray was the rear arm-rest cupholder.
The plastic surrounding the cupholder is peeling already but they couldnt take that out and they couldnt spray it while it was in the car either but since my car is grey inside, it isnt so obvious..
The dealer down here will in NO way replace that trim for me. Thats BMW service for you..

My car is an '06 push button start model. The black plastic on the lower half of the sport steering wheel has just started to peel
.
Apparently there's a Piano Black insert available so I can feel a plan starting to come together
