My Ride: BMW 525d Touring 2004 model with quite a lot of options.
Thumbs up

Hello,

One of the front PDC sensors has been partially pushed into it's hole

Is there an easy way to get it out again so it is flush and fixed in place without taking it to a dealer ?

It recently had a service at a BMW dealer and they quoted an incredible 800 pounds to fix it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How delicate are the sensors ? Any chance I could damage it by trying to sort this problem out ?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I have some experience of this matter having recently tried to change a faulty sensor on mine.

If your sensor is not sitting flush then it's either popped out of it's bracket which is an easy fix as you just need to get behind it and push it back in or the bracket has snapped off ( this is what happened in my case ).

These brackets are not a removal part but "plastic welded" on the bumper and come as part of the bumper.

In my case, I'm going to have to remove the bumper to get full access to the bracket and then reattach it using glue or some type of adhesive then pop the sensor back into it.

Has it just popped out of it's bracket or has he bracket broken off ?

You can get access to the back of the middle two PDC sensors by removing either the left or right grill ( depending on which side it is ) but this will only get you feel access and view access.

It should be under warranty unless it was your fault, take it to dealer and call BMW customer service if any problem.
mine was fixed free at BMW dealer/Service Dept. Not my fault....
It is delicate . I will not try to fix by myself....

Me too - a pheasant has just flown out in front of my E60 and pushed in one of the centre sensors. Is this a design fault? Do we need BMW to do pheasant testing?

I'm hoping the advice given above sorts me out. Thks in anticipation.
