PDC Optical display

Hi guys
finally just brought my first e60 545i (2nd hand but still proud!)
going to be picking up next weekend!!!
anyway just a quickie, was reading the service manual online and it says that to have the PDC displayed on the idrive was an optional extra?
is this true? couldn't see any reference to this on the website.

As far as I'm concerned the PDC will show on the display. It's not an optional extra. At least not here in Sweden!

Couple of questions... where are you located? What year is the car?
If you're in the US and if the car is a 2005+ then its standard for the 545.
The PDC was optional in MY04s and became standard on MY05+ on the V8s. IF and only IF the first owner did not ordered PDC from the factory and added it at the dealer then you might only have the rear sounding PDC and if thats the case then you wont have the optical picture on the iDrive.
If you're in the US and if the car is a 2005+ then its standard for the 545.

If it's a factory installed PDC, then the display part is included. In the iDrive settings, the display can be set to stay off if you choose but the choice is yours...

My Ride: May 2004 525 Amethyst grey, Heated front seats, bluetooth prep, Adaptive Xenons, 6 CD changer, Front & Rear PDC, retro-fit 6 DVD changer in boot (trunk) with remote control plus headrest screens and IR headphones, Playstation connection to cabin, twin 12v outlets in rear cabin
My April 2004 has PDC front and rear and it shows on the iDrive display

Ya if you have front PDC then it will have the picture display. Front PDC only came from the factory and factory ones will have the display. No worries. Enjoy the car!
