Trace with Omh Tester all connections Course check the connections for if conected... Also when you get her together...
Does everyone use the beeping alert feature with this or just the screen to view proximity and turn off the audible beeping alert feature? Good Luck... DTD

Hi, what did you end up with?

My 2004 530DAT has just the same symptomes. It started while driving on the motorway, with alert that the PDC was not working. At speed, so I ignored it but thought it must be some electrical... Then, after a few days, it just died. Same error as above, only gray areas.. A friend checked the error and it said that the transducers did not get any power.

Does anyone know what to meassure, and how to test the unit itself? I found it under the spare wheel, and it is nice and dry there. The unit has three connections. The fuse, nr 69 has been checked and Ohm'ed and it is ok.

Any suggestions?

btw:

I had same issue before

first PDC malfunction message came on and off
it was like that for a month and it went for good

took it into BMW and diagnosed the problem
they can tell right away which sensor is malfunctioning once they plug the car into computer.
from the 8 PDC sensors on the car one of them was broken

Since its not a topical part they normally carry, I had to wait for two weeks to arrive (5 Series Have matching color PDC sensor)

Cost me $225 + Tax (Can) for the part and $80 for instillation
if you know how to take off the front bumper, its easy installation
but I had no time...^^

good luck

You can check the sensors yourself.

Turn on the PDC system by pressing the button on the dash and go round each individual sensor checking for a ticking sound. Which ever one is not ticking is faulty.

it deactivated whole PDC system....all of the 8 sensor was turned off

I managed to check by ignition on(acc on,engine off) and putting car in reverse, parking display come's on and show's pdc failure with PDC button flashing green, went round car as paul_bean99 say's and managed to listen to all the one's that were ticking and the one that was faulty made no sound at all,had to replace the faulty one and it's been fine ever since.
