PDC Add on
Hi. Just have a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket, and I was flipping through the e60 accessories catalog...
Does anyone know if the dealer installed PDC option works the same as the factory? Does it just sound an audible alarm when in reverse, or does it do it in the front as well?
Does it show anything in iDrive, or just an alert tone?
Thanks,
James

It works only in the rear and it is not full functioning with the i-Drive.? You just get the audible tone.? That is why it is cheaper as an accesory.

I don't see why this can't be done like the factory. I'm guessing but I'm sure it's just a plug & play & reprogram issue. I mean, if PDC and non PDC cars are so different, it would cost BMW much more money to manufacture.
I'm sure all us non-PDC people should be able to have the factory PDC fitted in our cars. It's just a matter of finding the right dealer to do it (not to mention new front and rear bumers
).

Yeah, for sure. There is really no such thing as "can't be done" - anything is possible. Whether it's worthwhile or prohibitively expensive is another matter and if you have BMW technicians working on your car, prohibitive comes along fairly quickly.
