My Ride: 2004 545i Automatic - Premium - 19" M166 - Logic 7 - No Nav
Hi,
This came out last week on my 2004 E60 545IA. This is the description of the problem and how It happened. A few weeks ago, while driving ALONE, the seat belt chime went off for 3-4 secs delay numerous times during my trip. I had no passenger, and driver seatbelt was worn the entire trip. After the 6th time, I took the passenger belt and clipped it into the receiver and finished my road trip without any other incident.
Last week, when I started the car, this warning came on my idrive (Passenger restrain system failure). Now, everytime I start the car, that message cames up and I also get the Seat Belt + Airbag light in my cluster.
Car has never been into an accident.
Please advise.
Thanks

Check with your dealer to see you if your car falls into "200,000 airbag recall campaign" by BMW.
If you are, then it can be repaired for free.

I had this exact same problem happen to by 05 545i. I had it fixed and the total was $1300!!! I didn't know about the recall so I'll have to find out if my car was indeed part it. Does anyone know where I can find out if my car was included in the recall?

I'm not sure when did you get this fixed, but if it was after September, then I bet the dealer knew about this recall but didn't tell you/didn't run your vin number to see you are covered. I STONGLY recommend to call BMWNA to see if you are part of recall campaign. And get the $1300 reimbursed.
