In the US you do not need any activation for the mirrors to adjust. It depends on the position of the mirror selecter (Driver or Passenger) as to whether or not the mirror tilts. You need ithe position in Driver I believe.
Actually auto fold mirrors are a danger... NOT in folding, but unfolding... There are some instances where you may have parked close to a wall on one side - driving in with manually folded (electric) mirrors.?? Unlock the car and "SCRAPE"

So.. Give me manual electric mirrors!
Gotcha, the mirrors ONLY unfold automaticaly IF they were folded using the key.
BMW engineers think of everything!!!
Go tell that to other car mfr's!

We're not talking about mirror tilting/adjusting but the whole body of the side view mirror folding when you press a button on the remote!

Mine works just fine, both the tilt on reverse (a great feature), and the folding mirrors.

Cheers,

Malc.

Does anybody know to what extend does the mirror tilt downwards on reverse ?
Does it tilt all the way downwards ?
Is it possible to set the angle of tilt ? I vaguely remember its possible to set this for other BMW models ?

Here is a pic of it tilted in reverse. You can see the door handles - rear door handle in the upper half of the mirror:

In this pic you see it not tilted, rear door handle in the mirrors very bottom left corner - barely noticeable:
