sorry if it has been asked before, but shouldn't my passenger side mirror automatically tilts downwards on engaging reverse... (like the 2003 model 5-series of a friend)
it does not
and i do have auto-dimming / folding mirrors
another question: do your mirrors auto-fold in when the lock button is held (like after the windows and sunroof close)?
mine do not
cheers

the pasenger mirror does tilt downward on my US spec car, though I must have the selector switch (the one to select which mirror for adjusting) set to the driver-side mirror for the tilt function to work. The mirrors are also set for each key, like the memory seats, so that they move to the individual's desired position depending on whether my key unlocks the car or my wifes.
Don't know if the memory seat is required for the tilt function though.

The mirror tilt is a standard function. On our rhd UK cars the mirror adjust button needs to be pointed at the passenger side window for it to be active.
Auto dimming & folding mirrors are a separate cost option (?270 iirc) and is not related to memory seats in any way (applies to UK/Europe only of course)

It should tilt down... If you have the power side mirror adjustment selector switch on the right side it disables the right side tilt. If the selector switch is on the left side, it should tilt when reverse gear is chosen. (LHD)
Check that little switch!

On German spec cars the auto function for the passenger side mirror is just active when the selector switch is on the drivers mirror, it doesn't tilt when the selector is on the passenger's mirror.
When you lock the car you can't auto-fold the mirrors, unfortunately.

yep, i know about the switch location - so it must be that seats with memory are required.
which is pretty lame, since everything is there, you would think, to provide the function.
sucks in fact.
as for the folding mirror/key thing, i'll have to check with my dealer (always a great joy dealing with people with less than half of my iq)
cheers, all!
