My car displays the warning on the overhead console intermittently when my daughter is in the passenger seat. She is 5'8" and about 110lbs. I enquired about the recall and they said my car was not part of the recall. It is an 05 545i with comfort seats.

Marc

P.S. No letter yet.
According to this article http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008...ags_recall.html

"The recalled BMWs include the 2004 to 2005 5-Series standard and sport seat models, the 2004 to 2006 X3 and the 2006 3-Series with sport seats."

It sounds as if you have the comfort seats you should be OK and if you have an 04-05 E60 with standard or sport seats you should be getting a letter.

Marc, my car is an 05 545i with comfort seats, and I DID get a letter! Perhaps a call to the dealer is in order??

Now I'm confused. I guess the article must have been wrong....

In my case regardless if I receive a letter or not I need to take my car in since it's showing up on my idrive and instrument cluster, I have an appointment for Monday, I will let you guys know the outcome. Besides, I am still under manufacturer warranty so they need to fix it.

Marc and Flyingpuck:

The issue on the recall was only identified on the non-sport seats but that doesn't mean you cant have a de novo problem. Your symptoms sound exactly like that of the faulty sensor/mat and I am glad that you are getting it to the dealer......

I took my car in yesterday for service under warranty. I had the warning light once some time ago and told the SA about it and the recall. He was aware of the recall. Picked up the car today. They said, I had some batery cable issue, and my car is not under recall, fixed the faulty cable, cleared the warraning stored in thr system. And thats it. I don't know it good or bad news.

I got my letter this past week. But, I had already had the light going off about 6 months ago and the bad parts replaced.

I just got the letter in the mail from BMWNA even though I had the passenger seat mat replaced about 5 weeks ago.

Hopefully this doesn't reoccur. I've had several little "glitchy" things with this e60, mainly electrical/idrive stuff.
