so i got the error sign for my airbag and i set up an appointment with BMW Service. my car is out of the fatory warranty. do you ahve any idea how much they charge to reset the error?

look i had the same problems a few month ago, but the problem was because I put a new speaker under the seat, when they put the seat back appear the sing telling me about the seat belt problem, and airbag, but bmw fix it, but some aftermarket mechanic has those machine, that they can fix it for you, some of then can enter to the computer and erase it. but you has to check if you really have problems or not with the airbag & seatbelt .

I had the same problem about 5,000 miles out of warranty on my 545i. I believe there was a recall issued a while back for a sensor that determines whether someone's sitting in the passenger seat. This only applied to some 545s, my car not included.

Anyway, the dealer replaced the sensor at no charge and sent me on my way. So I have no idea how much they'd charge, but mention you heard something about a recall and you may get lucky.

Then again, I think it might have been my charm with the female service tech that sealed the deal.

i just dropped off my car today.. the sa is charging me $100 to look at the car and see what the problem is becuase it is out of warranty. if the car is covered under the recall can he still charge me that? and how could i find out if my car is coved under the recall..

That should help you figure out if your car is one of them. When I went the SA told me if the car was subject to the recall they would make the change for no charge. She then told me the car was not subject to the recall, but they made the replacement anyway and didn't charge anything. I don't know whether they can charge you or not.
