In my old E46 330i sport on the driver side there was a small compartment (glovebox look), my E60 has the same but no front panel just a storage place, I dont have a picture of what I mean and cant find one either

Does anyone know a part number at all? the interior is black if that makes any difference?

If you also have a picture of this area could you post it up so I can help out my BMW parts guy!

Thanks

Lee.

Is yours a right or left hand drive? (I'm not sure the parts are different for each, but it might help to know).

Later versions of the E60 have a door on that cubby (like the E46). The two parts are interchangeable. I know because I swapped mine over to the new type as the one without the door is pretty useless.

Down by your knee on the off side of the steering wheel column.

You can see it in this photo, just below the headlight switch panel:

In this photo they have the compartment with the door... The original one on mine (that I swapped out) had no door and things would slide out when I did 'emergency starts'.

Yeah thats it! I have a RHD the cubby hole has no door though so renders it pretty useless imo

Not sure what you're talking about, but see if you can find it in RealOEM.

I thought I might be able see it here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...10&hg=51&fg=45

or maybe here:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...25&hg=51&fg=30

But it doesn't look like it.

If you fish around the site a bit, you might be able to find it. If you do find it, please post to this thread so the rest of us can learn from you dilemna.

Thanks.

Part number is 51 45 7 156 964 for the black one (should be called "Hinged compartment in dashboard" on BMWs system). It's an easy enough swap. Just a few screws from what I remember. Will be obvious once you stick your head down there.
