How does park distance control work on a non-nav car? Does a picture of the cars still show up on the screen? Or is it just audible alerts?

I have pdc without navi, you still get the pic of the car on idrive with the green, yellow, red indicators as well as audible beeps. I love mine parking is so mindless now (hope it doesn't breakdown one day cuz I'll probably hit something)

Cars without navigation, get a picture like this on the Idrive screen.

+3 I had it on my '03 325i and I got so dependent upon it, that it was a requirement it's replacement. My wife's car has it, too. I can't imagine driving/parking without it!

Actually pays for itself, a small bumper repair is $1000 each time. My 545 didn't have it and it cost me $2000.

The driving position in E60 is excellent and you can park easily without PDC help. I remember how hard was to park my previous coupe/cabriolet even with the help of PDC. I have to admit though that I'm always using PDC in my E60, it makes life much easier

According to my view, the E60/E61 is as difficult to park as any car in that size. Money has been saved on many occasions in car parks thanks to the PDC! My wife's E46 3-series doesn't have PDC, and suddenly everything get's trickier...

I drove cars for >20 years without PDC's - a life without PDC is nowadays unthinkable.
