OK guys, I have to admit, Park Distance Control would have helped ![Think](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/think.gif)
I thought that the stop light would serve the purpose. boy, was I wrong...
the questions is who's fault is it me not getting the Park Distance Control option or the stupid license plate???![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)

Glad your Mystic Blue
was not damaged.
Don't think it was mentioned yet, but you can just press the button to activate PDC when pulling in to garage, do this all the time. I have found it only automatically starts up when go into reverse. I also have a bar on the ground that my wheels touch, then know to stop.
my530i, agree about the small garages.

Miss525 just smile at the wall and it will fix itself.
Rudy,
Your the man thanks for the welcome, does that really work I had PDC on my last X5 and I really do sorely miss it as a newbie in the car and without a ding yet I overcompensate everywhere without it. If you have not had it trust me it's one of those damn I really relied on that, especially now that I hear it beeps in the speaker closest to the potential touch. It's not really an old person thing but more of a "why should I have to mess with wiper blades, the car should be smart enough" especially when your new to the car like me and don't feel confident in your dimesions yet.

Haha.. hey Rudy, how does that "Laser" works with that "Laser" beam hitting your car.
![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)
MikeB, the laser works pretty well. I chose the laser instead of a parking stop or signal like miss525i has because I need to park the right side of the car very close to a side wall and the rear bumper needs to be very close to the garage door. The laser helps pinpoint the parking space not only with how far in you pull, but also where you pull in left-to-right. The hardest part is aligning everything and picking a spot on the dash to use as a reference.

So far I'm pretty dissapointed with the standard PDC...the red comes on way too soon. I have also found it a bit tricky to be smooth to inching forward with SMG since there's no clutch to let you free wheel into position.
Hope your baby doesn't get mad at the way you find the way into the garage. I personally now have a large empty corregated box I use to ram into!

Thanks Rudy spent all weekend cleaning out my garage to get it next to my boat but I like to back so I'll have to find a spot on the rear decklid. Just took my first pic of car at midnight in CA.
