Yes, secondhand, 18 months old with 17k miles. Not sold as seen, bought from BMW dealer in the rain! didnt think i'd have to collect my car in the dry  Even got given a free set of mats to hide the 2" hole in the carpet   Handed the complaint to Customer Service now as the dealer didnt even want to bother loking at the car!!
When my car goes back to BMW I'll be playing merry hell if they decide to charge me for fixing up any imperfections in the paint.

I thought you bought it as you saw/tested it and based your offer on its condition or whether the vendor agrees to make good agreed aspects.
Like buying a house. You buy it. Move in. Then other problems become yours.
Caveat Emptor! (so long as the purchase is "fit for purpose..." - which may be an angle)

Has buying a secondhand car changed?

If the car has come from an UK BMW dealer then it should come with the benefits that BMW show on their UK website.

We are completely confident in the quality of our Approved Used BMWs. So much so, that if we are unable to resolve a demonstrable fault arising within the first 30 days/1000 miles of your ownership (whichever is sooner), you will be entitled to an exchange, or a refund if an appropriate exchange cannot be found

Take a look at http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/ for some advice and products on detailing.
The paint finish on my new 535d in Monaco blue has a rough surface and I will have to polish it, glaze it and protect it as soon as I have time. I could take it back tio the dealer but then you risk a quick rush job leaving swirl marks. My wife's new black e92 by contrast has a superb finish.

How foolish was I to think that if I bought the car from the dealer then i would be a decent car! I have got a car with a resprayed bonnet, the whole passenger side too has painted poorly complete with rippled door oh and two damaged wheels and a holed carpet, not bad for an approved used BMW.
