Ruin trim pieces?
Chip?
Peel?

To those with opinions that differ........your car is painted is it not? So are your wheels. So are you calipers. So is your dashboard. Interior trim pieces are coated with a similar color protection paint that chips and rubs off. Every bmw I've owned that had those pieces, I immediately took those coated pieces off (including the entire center console) and repainted with appropriate trim paint.

I have yet to see 'rock chips' on window trim! Paint will not chip or peel if prepped right and I say this as an experienced painter. $225 for trim when the OP has OEM Trim already? HAHAHAHA..... and what is this about hurting resale? As a car dealer, I have YET to see an bluebook, blackbook, edmunds etc estimate show trim appreciation or deprecation. And by the looks of E60 owners (all members on this board and others) it seems that black trim only helps to give the car a more desired look thus increasing desire among potential buyers. Sorry I don't mean to knock anyone but in the end cars are a depreciating asset....they're plastic and metal! Why should you spend all this money on a car's looks when you can do it for next to nothing and know that it is the way you envisioned it and know it's done correctly. Besides, some people like to learn and I'm all about learning and teaching.

Those unfortunate experience that other members had are due to lack of "know how" and "direction"

Paint them.
