I know this is referring to an old post, but I have noticed 2 chips in my paint since I took delivery of the car (11 days ago). One happened while I was washing my car. Upon closer inspection, I have noticed about 10 areas on my car where there the car looks like something has been painted over or a small bubble the size of a pen head. I am going to the dealer this week and want to be prepared to argue these are not driver related.

Has anybody else had this problem and had a successful resolution from their dealer?

this did happened to mine car after I sprayed the front hood (bone) with the front headlight washer and the chemical you are supposed to use in your tank for wiper window washing did this bubbly paint all over.

NOTE: I also have Orient BLue!!!!!!

I did not bother going to dealer, they would tell me that it is my fault???
And even if they would agree on $hitty paint and agree it is their fault they would offer new paint over the hood for free...... which is better to get done by professional private owned paint shop anyway....

Quick refresher, need help

I discovered 1 chip on the hood of my car sat. after washing. I inspected the car further and noticed small areas of discoloration all over the car. When I applied some pressure with my fingernail to one, it chipped off as well. I have identified atleast 15 spots on the vehicle. Not waterspots, they have a texture to them.

So this is what happened today when I went to the dealer.

Met with manager and service manager today about my paint. Both seemed quite confused about what was going on. They assured me they would do whatever it takes to resolve the problem. I told them I was not happy that I have had my car for 2 weeks and there are even issues with the paint. I told them I believed the paint to be defective and I wanted another car. Thay told me they had steps to follow.

They believe the spots on my car can be removed with clay and they want to paint the two chips.

Should I let them do this, or should I demand they leave the car in this condition?

I do not want them to cover up any condition that may prove the paint is defective.

They agreed the paint should not have the spots and the chips at this stage.

What should I do?

You need to let it play out. It seems your dealer wants to work with you to resolve the problem (a good thing) and he will need to follow the standard protocol. If they can't get it fixed right (you can't tell they did anything), then they will probably escalate to BMW NA and try something else. In the end, if you are unhappy with whatever they decide to do, then go back. Persistence with patience will probably get you what you want. If the dealer drops the ball or will not work with you, find one that will.

Thanks

So you thinks it is okay to let them use a clay bar on my car?

Sure, you need to let them exhaust all their options. If you don't like the end result, just keep pressing for a resolution you can accept. You should be able to get a loaner when they have your car in the shop.

I contacted BMWNA via email yesterday and was surprised I got a response. They want me to let the dealer do what they can and contact them if I have any problems. I guess that is good.

I have another appointment next Tuesday, they are bring a paint specialist in to look at the car.

I guess I have to let them do what they want.

I don't have a choice, I am not happy.
