when you find one let me know! I'm looking for a descent shop too. I went to B-line in san jose and they told me that they called BMW and said that they have to get the extra parts that cost over $2000 to put on the Mtech kit. thats not including the paint job and install and bumpers.

B-line is a reputable shop with good review but I'm not sure if I want to have them installed the kit if they have to call the dealer for more info. Why not try Sonics in Mountain View. I think Sonics had a deal awhile back on the OEM Mtech kit, paint and installation for around $ 3000

Body shops that aren't familiar with this type of job have to go by the book so they don't give you a low estimate and then spend more on labor because they don't have the right parts. There are alot of "different" parts that are required for an Mtech conversion. Word on the forums is that many of these parts are not required and the same parts already on your can be used. I know for a fact these parts have different part numbers.

sorry for the confusion, but i'm planning to get m-tech replica from trinity or umnitza. Labor should be lower than oem m5 right?

I called around to inquire about the cost of paint and installation for the front awhile back; it varied from shop to shop but I think it was around 500 to 600 for the front only. If you live near Tracy, then I know a small shop that will do it for around 400 or a bit cheaper if you want to install it yourself.

Where is your preferred shop located and how much they charge for paint and installation.
