I have about a 1 inch area on my front bumper where the clear-coat has come off and the surface is rough. At first I thought it was bug residue, but it's not. When I took the car in for an oil change the service manager looked at it and said the bmwna regional rep would be in this week and would have to make a "ruling." The bumper would probably cost about $400 to re-paint. That's not a huge deal. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this with their e60 or with another BMW. I may have had a rock hit it (there's a small rock chip in the middle of the area), but wouldn't expect that much clearcoat to peel away and I don't know of any bugs that would cause that. I'm also thinking about having another bumper installed (AC Schnitzer or I'd really like the M5..but it's not available). Oh well...I should have had the clear bra put on the bumper. I only did the front part of the hood.

Darn Rem that is a bummer, i to have a problem with my lower bumper but it's because my wife kinda likes curbs lol. Curious as to what wax and or cleaners you use on the car

I have a professional hand wash the car weekly and the BMW dealer detailed it for me about two months ago. I didn't ask either one what products they use....maybe I should get more involved...but I figured they are the professionals and I trust them to use the right stuff. I plan to ask the guy who does the weekly hand washes when he saw this and why he didn't mention it to me, though.

My guess would be that your bumper was "kissed" by another vehicle.

I've had my car damaged by the dealer drivers, door panels with black marks, rims ruined, window pillar scratched...and they act like that's "normal" part of doing business with them....unbelievable.

I don't understand how they're still in business.
