Congrats
no go for the loJack, there is just too many of these car so no 1 is going you nick 1, but they will nick a Porsche.
go for the Tire & Wheel Insurance if the roads are bad, you got 19" so iris much easy to damage them.
3M paint protection film well if itis cheep then yes, but if it cost more than repainting the car then no.
last 1 dont know.
have fun

If the car is stolen, I'll call my insurance carrier--that's why we pay these ridiculous rates.
How true!

You can get wheel/tire insurance from theautoclub.com

Granted, the coverage is not as good as the $700/year varitey but it costs $2.50 per month.

Congrats Hinckley!

The only other thing I'd do is keep the triangle reflector before you drop the car off to be shipped back...if you care, since that will be removed since it's not required in the U.S.

I got both the BMW Assist and Lojack on my 550i. Initially I wasn't going to get the Lojack but the dealer gave me a good deal on it and explained the benefits. (financial wise)

Also from my research BMW Assist is kinda like Onstar, a GPS locator. Lojack works a bit different. When activated it's kinda like a beacon. Both has their pro's and cons.

I've had the luxury to chase after both types of stolen vehicles. The GPS Locator obviously is nice, it can pin point the location of the car within 1/2 mile radius. The bad thing is, it doesn't work very well in parking structures. If the bad guy steals your car and drives it into an underground parking structure, the GPS locator maybe never get a fix on teh vehicle.

Lojack sends a beacon signal and the tracking system in police cars tries to pin point that signal. To me, it's an archaic system that takes more effort to find the vehicle. The benefit is Lojack works pretty well in parking structures.

Just wanted to give some insight.

Congrats....looking forward to seeing your ED pics!!!

If you decide on any of the add-ons FYI, you can negotiate the cost and depending on how high up the finance chain the finance manager is at the dealer, they are typically free to pick any $$$ amount above their cost to charge you since this goes into their pocket. The prices you show are probably just their standard list prices. Negotiating doesn't stop at the car and it never hurts to ask.

Good Luck!!!! and send those pics!!!

Thanks for all the input guys. I think that I'm going to go with the wheel and tire insurance only.

Btw, according to BMW, today is my baby's birthday! It's a beautiful, nearly 4000 pound baby 550, with most options except the new techno stuff (active cruise, night vision, lane departure). I'm picking her up on May 3, driving her for about 10 days through Switerland (Zurich and Zermatt) and the south of France (Monaco, Aix and Avignon), and dropping her off in
Nice.

Pics to come in a few weeks . . .
