We corresponded with BMW AG today. We have found a better solution and now allowed to sell just the harness. This harness will allow the E60 M5 steering wheel paddles to communicate with the Steptronic transmission. The retrofit will require more than just the harness. You will need a new steering wheel and might need a new airbag as well.

Back in October 2004, we offered the kit to the first (possibly in the world) E60 530i Steptronic customer in the US . But we never published the news until now due to some advice from BMW AG. Details of which will not be dicussed here.
Some time in late November 2005, we were contacted by BMW AG and their recommendation is not to sell this retrofit due to potential complications with computer modules and electrical signals. While we are confident of our engineering design and application skills, we have decided not to release the E60, E61, E63, E64 kits until further notice. All other kits will be sold as usual. If you find anyone selling a E60, E61, E63, E64 kit, that is not our product.
On a similar note, we have customers asked us about a possible upgrade from a SMG (or SSG) steering wheel (+/- for each paddle) into a E60 M5 steering wheel. This is for a E60, E61, E63, E64 that has a SMG (or SSG transmission). Our decision is to go with BMW AG's recommendation. So we have decided not to release the kit for this upgrade as well.
We find working on the E60, E61, E63 and E64 to be a challenge and a joy but unfortunately, we have to follow BMW AG's recommendations.
Should there be any updates, we will let you know as soon as possible.

Hobi will sell his kit soon... check the threads, and yes my530i did it himself too, a bit sounds different to me than Hobis=no need for recoding and cutting.... but have not seen what my530i so I do not say his is not ok, just two different stuff...
