My Ride: 530d Sport manual Mystic Blue, black Dakota leather, advanced air con, fold/split rear seats, Logic 7, business nav, 6cd, heated F seats
About to order E60 530d manual.
I'm wondering whether Logic7 is worth going for over the 10 Speaker "Hi Fi Loudspeaker" system.
Here in the UK the HiFi is a ?370 option and Logic 7 is a ?890 option.
I will at least go for the HiFi; the question is whether to speand an extra ?500 on the Logic7.
I listen mostly to rock. Not really interested in graphic equaliser nor fancy sound effects like theatre etc.
Setting aside those features, how different is the Logic 7 from the Pro HiFi?
Obviousely rather subjective, but would welcome your thoughts & comments.
Thanks.

Honestly.... if you just listen to rock, then you really don't need an upgraded stereo.
The Logic 7 adds more speakers, and some DSP processing to change the acoustics inside the cabin.
Personally, I would not be able to live with just the Hi-Fi system.... but I am definitly an audiophile.
I don't think the difference would be as apparent to you.
That said... even the Logic 7 isn't that great. It may be excellent for a stock system, but that is not exactly saying a lot.

My Ride: '05 545i, silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, electric rear sunshade, folding rear seat, satellite radio prep, PIAA 4150K fogs, red rear reflectors, hardwired Valentine One
Logic7 is the best OEM sound system I've heard. It's a must have in my opinion. Haven't heard the other system, so can't comment on how it compares. Keep in mind that if you go with the lower level system, and later find you're not satisfied, it's difficult/expensive to upgrade later.

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
I'm unimpressed with the Logic 7 system, and had it not come with my car, I would never have ordered it. My old E39 had the standard US stereo system (probably your HiFi) and that was fine by me. I do not appreciate any significant differences between the two--and I'm talking pulling the same BMW demo CD out of my old car, and plugging it into the new one. Maybe a tad more, and clearer base, but that's not what I listen for.
But, they are your ears (and wallet!) Consider strongly what you listen to and HOW you listen to it in a car, as opposed to your home.
Cheers,
Ray Hull

Since I bought my car with it, I can say it sounds amazing. I enjoy listening to it on every drive.
If I were to buy a new car and pay for it, I doubt I would choose this option. Eventhough it sounds amazing, it's very pricey.
If I was an audiophile, I would get it in a heartbeat. You won't be disappointed.
