Got black.
Replaced with red from Bekkers.
Scraped black today to no avail.
So, that's the situation I have, Desert530.

Thanks guys! You just saved me 5 minutes when I get home.
From taking them off, I remember them being some kind of cheap plastic. No where as rigid as the true reflectors.

My US MY05 was Black Plastic/not painted mystic blue. Seems only the light colored US cars get the painted version.

At the NY Auto Show last year I spoke to a BMWNA rep and he said that when they originally sent in the bumper for DOT certification BMW did not have the reflectors. So the bumpers were approved as submitted. BMW would have to resubmit the new reflectorized bumper to the DOT for re-certification.

My dealer told me that my MY05 would come standard with the red reflectors.? Is he wrong?? I thought that he was giving me the truth since I was offering to pay for them as optional equipment.

My 2005 530i does not come with the red reflectors. I bought my set from online dealer with $9.98 each. I installed the reflector myself, easy task but time consuming to take the black insert out especially the passenger. I had to remove screws to drop the protection cover of the fuel tank down to access the black insert. Drive side had no protection cover due to the exhaust pipe.

I think you made it a little too complicated. There's no need to pop them out from behind -- just use some strong yarn (some people used fishing line) and get behind the corner and just pop it out. It's actually quite easy and you can have them replaced in less than 5 minutes total.

You have gotta be kidding me .... took me exactly 5 sec. to pop-out the black plug and another 2 secs to snap-in the reflectors.
