I know I asked this question before but I can't remember the answers so I'll ask it again:

What is the big deal with the inside trunk release button? I've had one on all three of my 5-series cars over the years and can honestly say I've only used the button a small handful of times. My trunk locks with the car so if the car is unlocked, I simply open the trunk from the handle. If my car is locked, I've already got a button in my hand (the key) so I can open it that way.

One scenario I can see that I'm not covering is if I'm in the car and I want to open the trunk for someone else. If that's the case, they can open it with the exterior handle. You can bet that I'll still jump out of the car to close the lid using the inside handle!

I have it, never use it, always click on the key button.
I don't think BMW would dare to release a car without it in the US, even the cheapest cars have it, not a big deal about it

When I am driving into the stadium on gamedays the car gets searched, but I don't want to get out of the car and don't want those security freaks to open my doors. Also, when I drop somebody off who has stuff in the trunk, I don't want to have the whole car open, you never know when there is somebody waiting for an easy car jack. There are several other situations I would like to use it. I would pay for the retrofit.

Other than those situations, I have to open/close my trunks each I cross border between Singapore and Malaysia for custom checks. They won't do it for you for a good reason. So, I stop the car, open the boots, take my time to get off the car. When I get to the trunk, they are usually done with the work. I close it and off I go.

In my previous car, I always double pulled the handle to open my door, and then only to find the trunk still locked. Not sure if E60 behaves the same.

So I made sure I have it with the E60.

So your car not only does not have the inside trunk release button but also does not have the button on the key to open the trunk?? Do you have to use the key?

I do have the button on the key, but while the key is in ignition it gets charged. And while it gets charged it doesn't work.

Actually you do have the trunk release button ... on your spare key.
