is the wood trim, and there's alot of it! I dont think I want to spend $800 to get aluminum. I'm only 35 years old, I dont need "wood" in my car until I'm in my 60's

If I order the aluminum trim from the dealer, can they roll it into my lease payment? This way I'm only paying the % of my lease vs. full cost?
I'm 29 and had the same question running through my mind when I ordered mine! I went for the anthracite (black) trim for the simple reason that IMHO it does not look like wood trim. The only other option was to go for Individual trim, but didn't feel the difference in finish/look was worth the higher price

As for your question about them putting into a lease payment, why not? As long as they get money for it, does it matter how you choose to pay for it? I would say it can be done and would be surprised if the dealer said no and risked the sale of a 550i.

You young guys don't like the wood? Wow.. I guess I am getting old... ( I'm 44) My 550 sport is titanium gray with black nasca and the anthracite headliner. It looks cool... for an old man's car, I guess. You guys made me go out in the garage and look. Maybe if I had the aluminum folks would think I was younger, but then again the car seat in the back is a dead give away.

My opinion: Wood on a bimmer is OK. Wood on a porsche is NOT OK.

Enjoy whatever you end up with and since you are so young and I am so old... please drive it safely.

Most of the 5's I saw a few weeks ago were aluminum trim.

Thats a lot of tin to go in that car.

Get some black wood in their and you'll be happy.

If tin defines your age then your buying this car for the wrong reasons. Wood or tin, they all drive the same!

Don't forget to finish it off with the Anthracite headliner.

Doesn't the interior of a black car get awfully dark with an anthracite headliner, and wouldn't that be intensified with black wood as well?

Yes, awfully dark with black leather, anthracite headline AND black wood.
IMHO, you really need something very bright to lift the interior (brushed aluminium or AluCube do the job nicely).

With the LCI, there is a new Grey Plastic Glossy Trim available... kind of like a grey 'piano black'. No-one has seen it yet so we don't know if it even looks nice... it's just something for you to consider because it might not be as expensive as aluminium to add,

I believe we're talking about a new oder here and AluCube has been withdrawn.

Yes, ABC but he needs to order the trim as a part anyway if he wants metal and I would imagine the AluCube should still be available as a part
It seems that the 550i in the US only comes with wood options and this doesn't appear to the breakfast club.

And you are right, by the way, about AluCube being deprecated for the LCI. I thought we would never see the day ;-)

Would the legacy part fit the LCI cockpit layout?
