Only changing the front tires

All,
Does it makes sense to do this:
- Get 2 more tires with same brand, get it installed on the rear and move the existing rear tires to front??? provided rear tires are indeed in excellent shape...i will goto some other shop for their opinion
And Also just in case I need to buy 4 new tires, please sugegst good tires for E60 for AZ climate and from where to buy etc. thanks
