So I am looking at two different 2007 550i's and need some help deciding.

Here is a rundown on the the two:

(1) Black/Black 550i, 50k miles, loaded with all options including HUD, has black staggered Forgestar rims, no warranty, 2 previous owners.

(2) Silver/Black 550i, 80k miles, loaded with everything but HUD, stock rims, CPO until May, Dinan Exhaust and throttle body, 2 previous owners.

The black 550i is $4500 more than the silver.

Here are my reservations on each:

#1 Doesn't have a warranty, but is the color I want, like the rims, has HUD, and has considerably less miles.

#2 Higher miles, would switch rims out adding more to the price, but it has the CPO warranty for another 5 months, and has the Dinan upgrades.

Neither is local so I can't test drive them.

Need help deciding. Which would you pick and why?

Based only on what you have provided the low miles car gets my vote - but only if you find and buy an aftermarket warranty! But miles alone won't tell the whole story. A low mileage car could have been beat to death and the high mileage sample could have been aggressively maintained and carefully driven. Unless these are so cheap the purchase is a no-brainer I'd get more information before pulling the trigger. Probably even pay for a qualified mechanic to do a hands on inspection.

Sight unseen is a tough nut to crack for me... not sure I am that trusting without doing as luigi said and finding someone local to see it and drive it/inspect it... Maybe see if the seller can go to the local dealer for an inspection... how far away are they? The low mileage one sounds better all around in my opinion... a 5 month warranty isnt enough to sway me. As for the warranty, if you go with an aftermarket warranty read the fine print to make sure its worth it. Or find a friend that owns an indy shop or is a bmw tech... it saves me a ton of money and he is always on call!!

Lower mileage one. It's a no brainer and is the color you want to boot.

Just an FYI, I will have whichever I choose taken to a BMW dealership for a pre-purchase inspection.

Can anyone recommend a decent warranty?

I'd go with number 1 too, its what you want providing it passes the inspection.
