Of course! There's a federal mandate that cars come equipped with a windshield -- it's part of a national campaign to keep down the mosquito population...

That's the prolbem you see. The treehuggers have taken sides with the mosquito's and recon they deserve a fair chance.
The Runflat-hedgehog situation hasn't dawn on them yet..

Besides which, without the windshield, it would be so noisy in the car that no one would be able to enjoy the squeaky window seals...?

Not to mention how hard it would be to read the newspaper, put on makeup, or talk on the cell phone...

Hi Gudge,

I have leased it on a pcp over 3 years, I put 7k down and am paying 600 a month. Sales man tried to convince me that having a manual would affect re-sale value. So when I asked him roughly by how much it would be affected, he said about 2k. Well it costs about 1,500 to have auto so I figured 500 quid wasn't too bad to be losing, when I have the pleasure of a 6spd manual.

I have'nt redlined it much as I am keeping it below 3.5k revs for the run in period. So currently I am shifting a bit to keep the sweet spot but I think it won'nt be so much of a problem when I have it run in. The only thing is the first gear runs out of steam very quickly and a quick shift to 2nd needs to be done in order to get a quick take off, unlike the straight 6. I have'nt quite got used to this yet.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. Which leasing company/dealer did you go with.

I am leasing over a 2 year period (PCH). I put 3k down and am paying ?395 per month. Although I only have a limit of 7,000 miles p.a (but this is my average mileage anyhow..........so I figured, why pay for 10k pa when you only do 7).

You have obviously done this kind of thing before........I have never leased a car previously, and do not know how residuals are calculated, but this seemed like a good deal to me..........what do you think ?

Gudge,

Thats sounds like a good deal. I leased mine with BMW finance, but my annual mileage limit is 20k p.a. So hence the higher payments

I got my car from www.conceptmotors.co.uk, and finance from BMW finance; supplying dealer was HR Owen Holland Park.
They are no longer doing my deal, but for a comparison, check out this current deal they have on offer:

5-Series, 530d Sport Auto - Leather & Media Pack
Celebrate summer in style! This deal is based on 36 months Contract Hire (3 + 35), 10k per annum. Call us now on 0870 757 2050 or vist us at our state of the art retail facility in Surrey. ?599 PCH & ?509 Business.

In fact, I think others may be interested.....I'm going to post this as a separate thread!

The way they have everything optional over in Europe, I wouldn't be surprised if the visibility package means you get a windshield and glass all around as well as headlights of some sort...
