I can even see that you can get a Cold-weather type, mine is bought in germany so the stock CCV itīs properly a normal version.
Do i need to take the intake manifold off to get to the CCV (hence the new gasket)
I have replaced the CCV valve on my M54 engine (2002 325xi).

Intake manifold: No, removal of the intake manifold is *not* required.

Here is a link that shows you *exactly* how to replace the CCV:

ECSTuning sells a kit that includes all the important components:

If you are mechanically inclined you can do this job. It takes about 8 hours and is a *more difficult* mechanic task for the Do-It-Yourself person.

For your information, the "cold weather" type of CCV includes an insulating cover that simply encloses the CCV--see attached photo.

I feel like I need to sit curled up in my shower rocking back and forth for hours after seeing that picture... too much? Good luck dude, I wish your motor a speedy recovery!

I did not replace mine although I bought all the parts...After checking mine was fine and turned out to be a DISA issue. I am just one of those guys who buy everything before I need it JUST IN CASE.
If you need all the parts I'd be happy to get them to you.
The engine shown in the link above is indeed an M54 on a different car. With the E60 I do believe you have to take off the intake manifold thus needing a new intake manifold gasket. I tried to see how to do this but after it proved to be too much while I had other issues I had to fix I just skipped it as mine was perfectly free and clear and not in need of replacement at this time.

OP- Pm me if you need the parts. Otherwise I'll take them back. They're all original OEM.
