Okay guys I am really tempted to get the M166's on my 545i especially since I've seen the great pics from IceyTys and others but I need your advise before making the move. I found a good deal at Finish Line Wheels for the 166 please see the attached link: http://www.finishlinewheels.com/specials/1...taggered+19%22/. I'm not sure if they are replica or OEM but again not sure if I really can notice the difference.

Your advise Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee.
They are replicas. Even the M logo is not on the wheel.

The other wheels they sell are OEM reconditioned wheels, so they repaired and refinished, not that thats necessarily a bad thing, just as long as you know in advance.
That'd be too risky for my taste. You have no idea what happened to them in their previous life. Whether they were damaged(cracked, bent etc..) an repaired (and heated in the process possible weakening them), or whether they are bent, and whether they're even still in spec as far as runout is concerned. To what level are they even required to "refurbish" them to?
Buying wheels off a private party, you are told how many mile are on 'em, and a lot of times you can probably even see the car they came off of.
I would think that to be a better altenative to buying "refurbished" wheels.

For about $600 more you can get OEM from Gary at Newport BMW of Rhode Island.

It cost me $1650 shipped.

You will regret the replicas.
It depends who makes the reps.

A company like VMR makes quality CSL reps. I also see a lot of E90 guys happy with their Miro M6 and CSL reps.

Just have to do your research.

Those look great but I'm feeling partial to the double spoke 167's. Problem is even my dealer out here in the boonies doesn't even know if they are a direct swap. Any ideas? or Any ideas on where to get them?

TIA
There are 2 types of 167's with different rear offsets, made for either the M5 or M6. Either offset fits if you use the correct sized tires.

Some prefer the M6 rear offsets for the 5 for max push with no spacers needed. Get them from Garry of Newport...and get a 25% discount as an E60.net member. http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=18067

After reading that thread, I will definitely order the wheels from Garry but he said not to bother him with technical questions. So for my 550, what did you mean by max push by getting the 167's made for the M6. I'm guessing having the wheels flush with the body rather than inset slightly which I definitely don't want to do?

However, another member sent me a link discussing that the M6 version of the 167s would not work for the fronts as they would cause rubbing.....and I don't want to roll the fenders(don't have confidence in anybody out here in West TX).

The more time I spend on this the more confused I get, anyway someone could tell me what to order and which tires from tirerack to get so I can get flush wheels with the body and the widest tires possible without rubbing?

Many thanks in advance

The M5 167's and M6 167's are the same "looking" wheels but have different REAR offsets. Lots of folks here order the M6 offsets (ET17) vs. the M5 offsets (ET28). Remember....a 172 rim which is ET32 in rear can accommodate a 15mm spacer with no rubbing. That essentially makes the wheel fit like an ET17 offset rim would.

Since the M6 167 (or 166) rears are already ET17, this will give you exactly what you want...the max push outward with NO rubbing and NO spacers, as long as you use 275/30/19 tires back there.

The fronts are ET12, regardless of which model...a 166 or 167 rim is the same up front no matter if it's for the M5 or M6. And it won't rub with 245/35/19's. There are lots of folks who have done the same rims (and 166's) with M6 offsets for their 5's.

If you still don't believe they'll fit perfectly, read this from IceyTys....he did the 166's with the M6 offsets for his 545, and they perfectly front and back!
