When using a vacuum device to suck out the oil, you'd normally use the dipstick tube. Since the E60 (well, mine anyway) doesn't have a dipstick, what should be used? Is it OK to use the fill hole or the oil return (seen when you remove the filter)?

I searched but didn't find anything that addressed this specifically. Thanks!

I also have an oil vacuum. It worked great on previous cars, but without a dipstick I think it is useless.

You won't be able to vacuum from the oil filler hole. The vacuum tub has to go down to base of oil pan. There is no access from the oil filler to the bottom of the block.

I too would appreciate if someone has figured out a different solution (besides crawling under the car to drain the oil).

I was planning on using the vacuum and then pulling the drain plug to see how much the vacuum misses. If it wasn't much, I'd just vacuum from then on.

That's what I was afraid of - that it wasn't a straight shot from the filler hole to the pan. Don't know why it wouldn't be....

because the filler is in the head, and the pan is under the block.
