Oil splatter when changing oil...

My Ride: 535i 6-speed
Model Year: 2008
When I remove the drain plug, the oil shoots out of the hole at a pretty good rate almost horizontal to the ground. So it hits the catch pan and splatters all over the inside of my front tire... 
Not really a big deal, I can put some sort of "splatter screen" thing up to help...but kind of a mess.
My REAL problem though, in addition to the mess above, is when the oil comes out of the drain hole, it barely doesn't clear the bottom edge of that undercover piece that covers the underside of the car..and as a result of the exiting oil stream hitting it...the oil splatters BIG TIME all over the place...
What a mess!! This occurred a while back when I did my first oil change at 5000 miles. Other than that, the oil change was a piecs of cake.
Anybody else have this problem?

My Ride: 2004 545i - 6 speed manual (July 04 build), silver-grey/black, sports package std equipment (18", active roll, active steering, adaptive headlights), premium sound, bluetooth enabled, folding rear seat, lumbar, 3m hood/bumper protective film, rear tint, euro reflectors.
On the V-8's it goes straight down into the catch pan. Which engine?
