I have about 700 miles on my new 545i and I have a service message that says I'm overdue for an oil service! The oil is not low so I guess I assume I don't need to worry too much about it? But I guess I should call service tomorrow anyway. Anybody else see this?

But the first 700 miles have been AWESOME!!

This happened to me too at 450 miles. I took it in and they reset the computer. Took 45 mins and they washed the car.

I am not sure, if dealer will change engine oil for you. I've got letter from service director of my delear, saying, new E60 does not require engine oil change until 15K. Good luck.

I know you have a 545 but just as an FYI (maybe it's a similar problem) the 530 had the following recall some time ago:

110703 MAR 04 Campaign - Engine Low Oil Level Warning

My dealer has such lousy service. I called today and they are quoting three weeks just to reset the service interval indicator. They asked me to try and reset it from the i-Drive first. Is there such an option?

I took my car in to have the wheels balanced at 1500 miles and the service adviser said that my key indicated I was due for an oil change. It supprised me, with my last two BMW's I could never get the dealer to do an oil change before 13 or 14000 miles. I know they say 15,000 miles but it also depends on driving conditions. Anyway when I went to pickup my 545i I was told that I did not need the oil change.
