Indicator is stating that my car is low on Engine Oil and that i need to add one quart. What kind of oil should i add? What oil would the dealer use?

FYI, i have a 2007 550i (manual) with 32,000 miles.

It should say on the oil filler cap. I believe BMW recommends Castrol synthetic. Read your owner's manual for the grade for your area.

If you're no longer covered by the maintenance agreement or your dealer won't top off your oil or it's more convenient to stop at an auto store Castrol full synthetic or Mobil1 extended service synthetic should be fine. You can find them at autozone, pep boys wal-mart etc. BMW oil may be purchased at your dealer's parts department - ask for a discount (BMWCCA or Forum)! The attached is from the BMW Service and Warranty Manual that should be provided with your car or readily available on-line.

amazing every thread almost these days has a bunch of misinformation or toolbags telling telling people to look at search etc-when they dont even know the answer.

Very simple for any NON-M bmw. In the U.S you can use
BMW 5w 30
Castrol Syntec EURO forumala 0w30 (not castrol syntec 5w30 non-euro)
Mobil 1 0w 40

Those are the only oils that meet bmw standard and can be found at autozone (except the bmw)

but that isnt what you said-you said castrol 0w30 but you did not specify EURO formula. That is the entire point-its a totally different quality in euro form as it has to meet further regulations for europe and thus euro cars
