Oil level too high, Again!
I purchased my E60 520d in Feb this year, when it was in for a faulty light repair in July the diagniostics reported the oil level too high, the dealer drained some oil and the level reorted OK. Checking via the iDrive again now and the level is reported too high again. goes back to the dealer this week, any ideas? (leaking injector) Is this common?

Assuming the oil-ferry is not pouring oil in to your car's engine while you are sleeping... Oil level sensor may be the culprit for that error. Oil level sensor is located on the bottom of the oil pan; not that difficult to change. Drain the oil, remove the bolts holding the sensor, replace the sensor, refill oil.

Drain the oil and measure how much is in there. Could be bad sensor, but could be fuel getting into the crankcase -- that is bad.

Probably the Oil Level Sensor at fault here! Replace that first.
Had this issue on my E39 530i. Quite the opposite feedback, actually.

Thanks guys, car is still in warranty so a dealer issue, my concern is that they fob off with a faulty sensor but there is actally fuel in the oil. I'll be looking for some written acknowledgement of the issue which I can use later if there are engine problems after warranty. Maybe even insist on an oil analysis, some chance.

Hello Charlie
You don't write how much the car have run , but if the car is some years ( 3-5 years ) old and a milage around 75-125 tkm the following could be the case.
It's a known fact that a faulty high-presure pump ( fuel-pump ) gives these symtom's ( fuel in the motor oil ) , you should be able to smell the Diesel in the motor oil if thats the issue.
A luck that your car still is under the warenty , due to this is a very expensive repair. ( 2.000 - 2.500 £ )
