Ok, my lovely husband did inform me that we have already used 2 quarts of oil in the car. There goes that theory.

Still, the light didn't go on before when the car WAS low on oil. But it DID go on when the car WAS NOT low on oil.

your car has its own mind, doesn't count !

i've posted something similar before. my friend has a 525 and has the warning twice. but his car is less than 3 months old. went back to dealer but the tech told him it's normal . just added oil.

Just got an oil top up from my dealer and they didn't charge me for it.

They confirmed that the engines do use up a fair amount of oil initially during the first few thousand miles which was true for my 320iSE not sure what happened to the 325iSE though? They're basically the same type of engine, maybe they filled up more oil in the 325? ?

The dealer here gave me a litre of oil for free when I took delivery. Its 6500 KM already, and no warning yet.

The funny thing is that after I turned the car off and waited 3 minutes the light went out and the service advisory dissapeared.cHmm maybe it filled itself back up.

Nope, no charge. Was due in 1k miles anyways. They gave me a fully loaded X5 3.0 even heated rear seats and PDC with NAV as a loaner.
