Hi Guys,

I just got back from a 2 week vacation last night and hopped in my car this morning and drove to work. I was a block from my office when I stopped at a stop sign then started to proceed. I felt a thud like someone rear ended me, but no one was behind me. Continued onto work thinking it was something with my auto transmission. I drove home after work and when I opened my garage door and noticed oil on the floor under what I am assuming is the oil pan and another under the passenger side floor board. I called the dealer and have an appointment Monday. Oil levels are okay, just needs an oil change. Also I have a steering malfunction warning message that has been coming up for the past few weeks that the dealer knows about and has booked me in to work on yet again. Can you guys take a look at the pic's and tell me what you think. Sorry the pic's are not in order.

THanks

L

When you felt that "thud", did it feel as if the car was hesitating to accelerate forward? Was it choppy? How long did it last for? Was the ride back to normal after that one time? That leak does not look good. Could range from many issues, hard to pin point from just pictures underneath the car.

The thud lasted for a split second and a slight loss of acceleration for that same duration, then drove normally, no more incidents. The dealer just told me to keep driving it until my appointment, which I am not until I get it to them Monday.

How many miles are on the car? That thud you felt could have been a a misfire, or a series of misfires. I had the same sort of issue with my car, and it was misfiring terribly bad. I had oil leaking into the coil socket, and had to get my valve cover gasket replaced. Your leak is stemming from somewhere else though. I'm no mechanic, but just some thoughts.

you need to pull the covers and see where its leaking from. It could be any system with oil under the hood. But you are taking to the dealer anyways, so it doesn't sound like a big deal.
