"Problem Solved" Oil drain plug????
Hi guys i was trying to do a oil change on my 08 535xi and ran into some complications.....
Is my first time doing it and i can't seen to find the right bolt, i was trying to loosen that big bolt on the pic but that is to damn tight...
anyone that can point me in the right direction please.

I've got a 2006 N52 xi, so it's not exactly the same, but that looks like the bolt. Make sure you are untightening it and not tightening it Could be someone over tightened it. You don't want to strip it.

Get someone else who's got an N54 AWD engine to verify that's the right bolt for the drain plug. There are more than one that look right, and I can't see an overall picture of the bottom.

Finish what i started Yesterday here are some pics of the ups and down i had....
First i hit the bolt with a hammer and that loosen it up, drain the oil and was trying to install FUMOTO valve adapter and it broke inside the hole not good, i manage to take it out with a flat head .
Install the valve with out the adapter and put 7q in that baby , took it for a ride and no leaks.
SAFETY first guys.

I have a 2010 535 and that looks nothing like my oil pan and drain! Did you also have to remove your entire plastic underide tray?
Glad you got it done, but still looks like an odd procedure. Hope you didn't have to tighten it back up with a hammer!

Lol.....
From my understanding I models have the drain pointing to the back of the car, XI model is pointing down to the floor.
I was suppose to remove the cover covering the oil pan, but since i dont have it because the tech from the dealer never put it back i dint remove anything.

I don't remember a hammer in the list of required tools for an oil change in the Bentley manual, but hey, whatever works!
Hopefully you used a torque wrench (as apparently whoever did the previous oil change didn't) to avoid the heartache of a stripped drain plug thread in the future.

I just took a look down there to check if all was good and everything looks normal.
